Shane's special day...

About 1 week ago Shane was complaining about his tooth hurting. He has been grinding his teeth for years and so I was thinking it was because he got to his nerve and biting an apple would make that hurt. I went over and looked and he had his adult tooth growing up behind his tooth. This was his lower front right tooth. His baby tooth was only a little wiggly. So he's been working on it to get a bit more wiggly over the past 2 days. I told him that we should take him to Papa (my dad) to pull his tooth out. My dad was the master tooth puller. Shane was all for that. He got the phone but my dad had already left for his church meeting. So my mom told me to try some floss around the tooth just to get it more wiggly and ready to come out. So I gave that a try and wrapped some floss around the base of the tooth. I pulled here up and there and I pulled forward a few times and then the tooth popped a little forward! Shane had no clue! I lost the floss so I had to try and re-wrap the tooth, once I got the floss around the tooth again I pulled up several times lightly and then it just popped out. With Shane's tooth hanging from the floss, I hear Shane ask me if the floss came off again. I said no and slowly moved the hanging tooth in front of Shane to show him is first lost tooth. No pain, nothing. It was great. And to top that off, it wasn't that wiggly at all! Seth has a wiggly tooth. The exact same tooth even! It's more wiggly than Shane's was! But we HAD to get Shane's out ASAP due to the tooth in the back. Now it can move into it's proper place, somehow. There isn't very much room!Shane's baby teeth were so TINY! All in time! We shall see!

  1. Happy Day! And what a brave kid. My kid would never let me come near his teeth with floss. Congrats Shane!
